How to search for lateral jobs (1)

Introduction:

After 2 job switches, I have to humbly(??? :-)...) accept that now I posses sufficient knowledge and experience that I can pass it on to potential job seekers.
As a fresher you would have searched for jobs and settled on the first job offer that you received. But lateral job search is totally different from a fresher job search.
As a fresher you can apply for any company, any technology, any domain. But in a lateral job interview, you can apply only for certain specific jobs. And in a lateral job search, you need to keep searching intensively for a better job offer even after getting the first offer.

A minimum of 25-30% hike from the current salary, accompanied with a better role, which is normally one step ahead of your current role are some of the facts that makes a lateral job switch lucrative. On the contrary, we have to leave a familiar company, familiar people and environment in this process. But any change in life is for good and a change is always refreshing.

As the popular saying goes, "love your job, but never love your company, because you never know when the company will stop loving you".

In this series, I will take you through all the steps that you need to undertake to land successfully in a better job.
